Veteran singer Asha Bhosle's 56-year-old daughter Varsha Bhosle
committed suicide by shooting herself in her head at her Peddar
Road residence, yesterday, in Mumbai. Krishna Prakash, Additional
Commissioner of Police (South region), said in a statement: Varsha
shot herself in the right temple with a Belgian-made pistol. She was
found on the sofa… The driver entered the house from Lata
Mangeshkar's adjoining flat and found Varsha in the living room.
Varsha Bhosle had previously tried to commit suicide in 2008 and
2010 by consuming a heavy dose of sleeping pills, but she was
saved after being rushed to the hospital just in time back then. But
on Monday, October 8, she was alone in the house along with a
firearm and Varsha reportedly pumped two rounds into herself. Our
condolences are with Asha Bhosle and we pray for her deceased
daughter.
